If in case it is your first time to try indoor gardening, it would be a great idea to familiarize yourself with the dos and don’ts of this new hobby that you have in mind:

Dos

  • Do make sure that you will visit your plant several times every week. You would need to think about the possible changes that might happen when you place it inside your home. If the plants that you are trying to grow are starting to show some signs of being unhealthy, then this might become a problem.
  • Do make use of water made that is the same with room temperature of the room where the plant is in. This will make sure that your plants will be hydrated well without being shocked because of the water temperature.
  • Do make sure that your plants are clean. If you think that you should not remove leaves that have turned yellow or you do not usually remove flowers and leaves that have fallen off from the plant, this can become a problem.
  • Do change the position of your plants once a week so that they can grow out evenly. If you wouldn’t do this, there is a tendency of your plants to lean more towards the side where the light source is from.
  • Do report your plant if it is already starting to outgrow its pot. If you would not do this, there is a chance that your pot will not grow properly.

Don’ts

  • Do not try to place fertilizer on the soil of your plant if the soil that you are using is still dry. If you would like to place fertilizer, you may want to water your soil first so that the nutrients of the fertilizer will be absorbed into the soil and eventually into the plant.
  • Do not water your plants with cold water. There is a possibility that your plant will get shocked and will be unable to absorb the needed nutrients in order to let it grow. This may be especially harder for the plant since it is growing indoors.
  • Do not place in areas wherein there is almost no air. Plants are also alive and like human beings would also need air in order to survive. If you would not be able to provide an ample amount of air, your plant will wilt fast and will eventually die.
